Chamber Evaluates Prospective Mentor-Protege Program
On July 30-31, Bryan K. Stephens, Hampton Roads Chamber President & CEO, and Jim Carroll, Vice President for Small Business for the Chamber and Executive Director of the Small Business Development Center of Hampton Roads (SBDC), were joined by Mark Johnson, Community Development Manager for SunTrust Bank, and Zack Miller, Managing Director of HATCH, for a visit to the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce to evaluate their Propel program.

Local Business Leaders Share Ideas at Roundtable Discussion with Elected Officials
More than 40 business leaders gathered July 17 for a Business Development Roundtable Discussion hosted by the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and the Entrepreneurs Organization. This Business Development Caucus meeting marked the 10th of its kind to be held in the Commonwealth. On-hand to listen to business leaders were Delegates Glenn Davis, Ron Villanueva, Chris Head and Senator Jeffrey McWaters.
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Urges Passage of GROW AMERICA Act
The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce participated in a phone call with U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx on July 9. Hosted by Business Forward, a D.C.-based business group, Secretary Foxx focused on the Administration's proposed GROW AMERICA Act. He explained that unless Congress acts, by the end of the summer, the Federal Highway Trust Fund could be insolvent, putting jobs and critical road projects in many states at risk.

New Chamber Member Zaxby's Gives Back to the Community
Zaxby's of Chesapeake donated nearly 10,000 dollars to Jolliff United Methodist Church for their 'Youth Exalting the Savior' mission trip. The donation covers the cost of 26 youth and adults who will reconstruct the sanctuary of Adams Memorial United Methodist Church, which was completely destroyed by a fire last year.
