Joe Taylor Was Elected as Board Chair at the 2022 Do it Best Shareholders' Meeting

September 21, 2022, VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA — Joe Taylor, President and CEO of Taylor’s Do it Center and Pleasants Hardware, was elected Chair of the Board of Directors for Do it Best Corp.
Joe Taylor was elected as board chair at the 2022 Do it Best Shareholders’ Meeting held September 11 in Indianapolis, IN. First elected to the board in 2018, he is currently serving a second three-year term on the 12-person board of directors. The board represents the interest of thousands of member-owners across the United States and more than 50 countries. This includes locally owned and operated Taylor’s Do it Center and Pleasants Hardware who are also member-owners of the Fort Wayne, IN-based home improvement co-op.

“It’s been an honor to serve on the Do it Best Corp. board for the past five years and even more special to be selected by that group to serve as their chair,” said Joe Taylor. “Do it Best Corp. has been a key partner in our growth and success for more than 30 years.”

The Taylor family’s history in the independent home improvement industry is extensive. Originally founded in 1927 in Virginia Beach as Fuel, Feed and Building Supplies, and recognized as one of the city’s longest continuously operated retail businesses. The Taylor family now operates 11 locations in Chesapeake, Gloucester, Norfolk, Poquoson, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach, VA as well as Moyock, NC. In 2016, the Taylor family acquired Pleasants Hardware in Richmond, VA and now operate nine locations in the Richmond market.

Joe Taylor has earned recognition and several industry accolades throughout his career. He is actively involved in civic leadership and community support roles. He currently serves on the Virginia Beach Towne Bank Advisory Board. He is the past Chairman of the Board of Directors for Retail Alliance of Hampton Roads (2019) and has been a member since 2012. He is the past Chairman of the Board of the Virginia Beach Chamber of Commerce (2016) and has been a member since 2014. He is a past member of the Regional Chamber of Commerce Board (2017), past board member of the First Tee of Hampton Roads (2011-16), and past chairman, vice chairman, and board member for the Virginia Beach Resort Advisory Commission where he served as Transportation Committee Chair (1997-2006).
