The Chamber’s Wild Wing Fling event held on September 11 at the Bayside Harley-Davidson was a huge success attracting nearly 1,000 attendees and 40 exhibitors. Business professionals took advantage of the large-scale networking opportunity, discovering new products and services while enjoying samplings of the best wings from area restaurants and the live band, More Cowbell.
This year, there was a special tribute to honor the victims and heroes of 9/11, and Mayor Kenny Wright delivered a moving speech. The Rescue Remembrance Project was on-hand and presented with $250 from Chamber member Top Guard Security. The Chamber submitted a donation on behalf of those in attendance.
Participants dined on delicious wings from local restaurants and then voted for the “People’s Choice Award” which went to Maryview (1st place) and Bubba-N-Franks Smoke House (2nd place), however, Big Woody’s Chesapeake Square was crowned the Wild Wing Fling King for the second year in a row! Big Woody’s also received the “Best in Show,” “Most Original,” “Hottest Wings” and the “Most Flavorful” awards.
Local celebrity judges included Stephanie Cooke, Executive Producer of "The Hampton Roads Show" on WAVY-TV 10; Francina Harrison, Speaker and TV/Radio Host; and Sean Rogers of Newtown Building Supplies, Inc.
Business Exhibitor Ariel Martin, Owner/Agent at Farmers Insurance Group & Financial Services, said, “This was our first Hampton Roads Chamber event and it was a great one!”
“We had a great time at the Chamber’s Wild Wing Fling,” said Donna Drew, owner of TapSnap. “Thank you Bayside Harley-Davidson for hosting this wonderful event.”
