Virginia Beach, VA (September 5, 2019) - Chartway Federal Credit Union is proud to have recently welcomed several new leaders to its leadership team: George Pita, chief lending officer; Will Arce, vice president of Chartway's Member Solutions Center; Elizabeth Short, Vice President of Marketing; and Danielle Abbassi, President of Chartway's charitable arm, the We Promise Foundation.
George Pita – Chief Lending Officer
Pita comes to Chartway with more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, particularly in the areas of credit risk management and finance. A proven leader, he joined Chartway after serving as the senior vice president of consumer and business lending at Grow Financial Federal Credit Union. Prior to that, he worked at PNC and at SunTrust in a variety of progressive senior-level roles.
In his current role, Pita is responsible for Chartway’s credit risk management, consumer lending, indirect lending, and collections teams. Pita holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of West Georgia and is a graduate of Furman University’s School of Retail Bank Management.
Will Arce – Vice President of Chartway’s Member Solutions Center
Arce is a senior-level leader with expertise in delivering inventive business strategies and strengthening internal and member experiences. Most recently, he served as Capital One’s contact center operations, quality, training, and vendor management director for its Canadian operations. He was also the Montréal contact center site director/general manager.
Arce is accountable for the planning, coordination, and management of Chartway’s Member Solutions Center – the credit union’s in-bound and out-bound telephone and digital servicing center. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from DePaul University.
Elizabeth Short – Vice President of Marketing
Short is a senior-level marketing professional who has more than 25 years of experience in marketing strategy, advertising, digital marketing, new business development, and brand management. Most recently, she worked as the vice president of digital marketing for Meridian Group, an advertising agency in Virginia Beach. There, she led digital marketing, analytics, and media services. She has also worked for companies including Launch Interactive, Homes.com, The Washington Post, Newsweek Interactive, and the Martin Agency, among others.
As Chartway’s vice president of marketing, Short leads the credit union’s advertising campaign strategies, brand planning, and channel marketing efforts to build market awareness, attract new members and deepen current-member engagement across all channels. Short holds a bachelor’s degree in English & fine arts from the College of William & Mary.
Danielle Abbassi – President, Chartway’s We Promise Foundation
Abbassi joins Chartway following more than 10 years of non-profit sector experience. Most recently, she served as the director of development for the National Veterans Foundation. She also worked for Operation Smile’s development team, raising funds for its U.S. Philanthropy division.
As the president of Chartway’s We Promise Foundation, Abbassi will lead the organization’s philanthropic engagement efforts and be accountable for the overall growth of the Foundation. She will also be responsible for establishing meaningful partnerships with donors, business partners, community leaders, and prospective major gift supporters, and for diversifying/expanding revenue streams that fulfill the Foundation’s mission and strategic goals.
Abbassi holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies with a focus on foreign policy in the Middle East and a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in cross-sector public service and non-profit management – both from Old Dominion University (ODU). She is also pursuing a PhD in public policy and administration from ODU.
