Twenty four teams of golfers teed off in support of local wounded warriors at the Hampton Roads Chamber's Wounded Warrior Golf Outing on Thursday, September 7th. This year the silent auction proceeds of the Wounded Warrior golf outing will be donated to the Navy Safe Harbor Foundation, which serves wounded, injured, and ill sailors, coast guardsmen, and their families. "Safe Harbor is making a difference," said Jason Redman, retired naval officer and U.S. Navy SEAL, "and all of you are here today show that you care and that you want to make a difference."
Close to 100 participants, including the Commanding Officer of Oceana Naval Air Station, Capt. Rich Meadows, and the Executive Officer of Oceana Naval Air Station, Capt. Chad Vincelette, and three local wounded warriors took to the greens at Aeropines Golf Course to play golf and make connections.
"We had a great day," said Courtney Dyer of the Virginia Beach Convention Center, "We got to meet a new industry partner, Jon Thompson from Camp Grom, an accessible camp for wounded warriors and other children and adults with disabilities or special needs."
The Hampton Roads Chamber strives to be an inspiring ignitor, powerful economic partner, and impactful advocate for our regional community. Providing opportunities for business leaders to connect and expand their sphere of influence is our priority. Our Wounded Warrior Golf Outing is one example of how we meet this priority while also allowing us to be strong supporters and advocates of our military and their families.
