Langley for Families Foundation donated $10,000 to support the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Hampton Roads this October.
The walk, held annually in October in Virginia Beach, has gone virtual in 2020 with Strides Across America Walk Challenge. The challenge encourages teams and participants to a five-mile walk between Oct. 18-31. Their goal is to log 279,100 miles nationwide in honor of every person that will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
“We send a sincere and heartfelt thank you to Langley and its employees for the many ways they support our mission, including Making Strides Against Breast Cancer,” said Melissa Roof, senior manager of community development at American Cancer Society. “Together with dedicated volunteers and supporters, we remain focused through this pandemic on what matters most – cancer patients, caregivers, and survivors.”
On October 22-24, Langley employees are encouraged to “pink out” and wear pink each day to raise awareness for breast cancer.
American Cancer Society conducts research for a cure, but also provides vital services to cancer patients in Hampton Roads, including free lodging, free meals, and free transportation to treatment.
