A crowd of approximately 75 turned out for the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce’s Portsmouth Mayoral Forum at City Council Chambers on October 14 from 5:30-7:30pm. Four of the five candidates participated in the forum, which was moderated by John Stone, a long-time Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce member and retired governmental affairs professional. Billy Baker, Lee Cherry, Elizabeth Psimas, and Kenny Wright took turns answering questions prepared by the Board of the Chamber’s Portsmouth Division.
Bernard Griffin has been temporarily serving as Portsmouth’s Mayor since voters recalled James Holley on July 13. Griffin, served as vice mayor of Portsmouth for six years, leaving office in 2004.
