The Portsmouth Division of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Portsmouth Business Roundtable members, including the Midtown Business Association and The Olde Towne Business Association and the League of Women Voters held a joint Candidate Forum on Saturday, October 15, 2016 to give residents and the business community an opportunity to meet the all candidates and have an opportunity to hear where they stand on the many issues around the city, and particularly as they impact the business community.
The At-Large City Council Candidates started the forum off at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mayoral Candidates at noon. They drew numbers to determine their speaking order. Questions from the moderator and attendees audience were focused on topics such as: areas for revitalization; economic development and entrepreneurship; small business; budget management; education and workforce development.
The Hampton Roads Chamber continues to support and advocate for businesses in Hampton Roads for regional economic growth, member success, and enhancement of the quality of life. The Chamber provides access to decision makers and hosts events on business issues that impact the business community. The Chamber encourages the community to vote on November 8.
