Virginia has long been blessed by a strong economy and we are proud to have been recognized, once again, as the best state for business. While, we are grateful for this recognition, there is still much work to be done to sustain this position in an increasingly competitive landscape. As Virginia’s political climate continues to change, some are proposing policies that would detrimentally impact the Commonwealth’s business climate. One such proposal, which is gaining attention at an alarming rate, is a repeal of Virginia’s Right-to-Work law (RTW.)
Last session, we defeated legislation that would have repealed Virginia’s RTW law and according to a recent estimate,Virginia would lose more than $1 billion annually.
Most surprisingly, of the more than 150 candidates that participated in the digital questionnaire,42 percent of all participants expressed they support a repeal of Virginia’s RTW law.
