Thanks to a partnership between the Hampton Roads Small Business Development Center and the City of Virginia Beach, early education childcare providers can learn the tools necessary to operate a profitable business. The program is designed to help childcare centers improve profitability so they can focus on providing quality education.
Fourteen participants from nine Virginia Beach small businesses in the early education industry graduated from the yearlong Early Education Business Program on Thursday, September 29, 2016. Virginia Beach Mayor, William D. Sessoms, Jr. delivered the keynote address acknowledging the strong business outcomes which were generated through the 2016 participants. Through the nine participating businesses 477 children were positively impacted, 77 employees impacted, 8 jobs were created, average enrollment increased by 25%, and average revenue increased by 37%.
The Early Education Business Program is a small business training and mentoring program for owners and directors of early childhood businesses. The program is a partnership with the City of Virginia Beach Economic Development Department and the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Small Business Development Center. Centers that participate in the year long program, receive mentoring and training classes on best business practices. The primary goal of the program is to create sustainable small businesses that have the infrastructure to fully engage and pursue industry quality through the Virginia Quality Initiative or national accreditation.
