Continue your holiday traditions or start new ones in Downtown Norfolk. A season of festivities and fun for the whole family has been planned by Downtown Norfolk Council.
“We are kicking off the season where Downtown is full of holiday cheer, shows, events, dining, shopping, attractions and ice skating all within walking distance,” said Downtown Norfolk Council Director of Marketing and Communications Jessica Kliner. “As usual, the Downtown skyline will shine with the Grand Illumination of our Downtown buildings, and we are proud to to share the joy of the season with all of our residents, businesses and visitors. We are also truly thankful for our sponsors that help us make the season bright including ADP, The Breeden Company, Lime, MacArthur Center, Marriott Norfolk Waterside and TowneBank.
Grand Illumination Celebration and Holiday Kick-off, Nov. 20, 5 - 7 pm
The holiday season starts in Downtown Norfolk with mini-activations and a festive atmosphere throughout the evening culminating with the Grand Illumination of the Downtown skyline at 7 pm.
Rudolph Ride from The Plot, Nov. 20, 6 pm
Enjoy a fun and casual group bike ride to Downtown festivities! Elves from Elizabeth River Trail, Downtown Norfolk and Lime are leading a ride on the night of Grand Illumination Celebration and Holiday Kick-off. Meet at The Plot and don your Rudolph noses and antlers. Ride kicks off at 6 pm.

7th Annual Great Hot Cocoa War, Nov. 20 - 27
Downtown’s beloved Great Hot Cocoa War lasts an entire week to give everyone time to try all the chocolatey creations from participating restaurants and vote on your favorite!
Small Business Saturday and Poinsettia Market, Nov. 27
Find local and unique gifts in Downtown Norfolk on Small Business Saturday and all season long. As part of the celebration, Downtown Norfolk Council is planning a Shop Small Welcome Station for shoppers at Selden Market with a list of participating small businesses, treats and entertainment.
Poinsettia and Fresh Wreath Market from 10 am-1 pm. There will be poinsettias in a variety of sizes and colors as well as fresh Frasier and Noble Fir wreaths for sale with proceeds benefiting Downtown Norfolk Council initiatives. Upgrade your holiday décor and support the Downtown community.
Downtown will also be alive with Strolling Santa carolers, Small Business Saturday decorations and random gift card giveaways to Downtown shoppers.
Holiday Movie Food and Drink Week, Dec. 3 - 10
Downtown chefs put fun and creative spins on iconic food and drinks from holiday movie classics for a delicious helping of festive nostalgia. With many participating restaurants in this special dining week, there is ample opportunity to get a taste for Downtown’s unique holiday experience.
NEON Holiday Market, Dec. 11, noon - 4 pm
The NEON Holiday Market returns to the Plot for its seventh year of creative holiday shopping with a wide range of artistic and eclectic vendors, festive lights, acoustic jams and delicious snacks.
Vintage Sunday at Selden Market, Dec.12, 11 am - 5 pm

As the gateway into Downtown Norfolk, the NEON District provides the first glimpse of city lights, historic buildings and bustling streets to residents and visitors. The District will showcase unique, creative holiday décor, painted by Norfolk artists, along Granby Street adding to the magic of the season.
