WHAT:           The Hampton Roads Chamber will present a panel discussion about the Affordable Care Act. Panelists will discuss what the health care law means for Virginians and how people can obtain health coverage. This session, free and open to the public, is part of the Norfolk Biz Matters series hosted by the Chamber’s Norfolk Division.  More than 100 business and community leaders are expected to attend.

WHO:             Panelists include:

Cher Wynkoop, Attorney, Willcox & Savage - Will address the actual provisions of the law and what businesses are legally obligated to do to stay in compliance, as well as what penalties will be assessed for incidents of non-compliance.

Michael Dudley, President, Optima Health Plans - Will explain how private insurance providers are preparing for individual and employer mandates and how the law impacts the delivery of service to their insured customers.  Will also discuss how the application of the law will change in the coming years.

Shira Itzhak, Owner, Remedy Staffing - As a business owner with 300 employees, she will discuss how the Affordable Care Act impacts how she does business.  How individuals and employers with fewer than 50 employees may utilize the tax credit and considerations of offering group coverage vs. employees to move to cheaper options

Scott Wells, Vice President, of Sales at Tower Benefit Consultants -Will explain individual and employee benefit solutions and what employers’ top questions and concerns have been.
