This friendly competition is gonna get pretty hairy!

The Hampton Roads commercial real estate community has joined forces to honor Kyle Profilet, son of John Profilet, senior vice president with S.L. Nusbaum Realty Co., and Alex Divaris, son of Gerald Divaris, chairman/CEO of Divaris Real Estate, who lost their battles with cancer in 2019.


During a No-Shave November campaign, brokers of the major commercial real estate companies are working together to raise funds for Duke Cancer Institute, the charity selected by Profilet and Divaris. Participants in the fight against cancer include Colliers International, Cushman Wakefield | Thalhimer, Divaris Real Estate, Harvey Lindsay Commercial Real Estate and S.L. Nusbaum Realty Co. 


The national No-Shave November program was adopted locally in 2012 by Colliers International. Each year a different charity is selected, and hundreds of thousands of dollars have been raised for individuals and causes over the years. 


“We are proud to lead this campaign and unite not only our company, but also the broader commercial real estate community in raising awareness and funds for cancer research that is relevant to all of us,” said Perry Frazer, managing director of Colliers International’s Norfolk office.


“The local commercial real estate community is a relatively small group of very productive agents who have the opportunity to work with each other time after time,” said Profilet. “This creates relationships transcending transactional purpose. This could not be demonstrated stronger than by the commercial community joining together this year to support cancer research in honor of my son Kyle and Gerald Divaris’s son, Alex – both lost this past year. What a kind and healing gesture this is to witness.” 


The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free. Participants are asked to donate the money they typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle. Men are encouraged to grow beards and mustaches, and women can forego shaving as well. 


This year’s regional goal is $50,000, and members of the community are invited to participate by donating on behalf of these beloved men and for all of those who we have been lost to cancer or those who continue to fight their battle today. Donations are being accepted through
