Waterside District is partnering with the YMCA of South Hampton Roads to promote fun and fitness for a healthier Norfolk. The YMCA Traveling Y kicks off with a Hip Hop class on Wednesday, May 31 on the promenade area next to the river at Waterside District.
The Traveling Y is a year-long program that is held outside the four walls of the YMCA to better serve neighbors in the community. All of the Traveling Y’s classes and events are free and take place at key locations across Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore and Northeastern North Carolina throughout 2017.
Classes in core work, family fitness, yoga, Zumba and Pilates are just a few of the sessions on the YMCA Traveling Y lineup at Waterside District. Classes will be held every other Wednesday throughout the summer and the complete schedule can be found on the Entertainment tab at www.watersidedistrict.com. All classes are free to the public and pre-registration is not required. Participants should plan to arrive at 6 pm and classes will run for about an hour, beginning around 6:30 pm. Waterside District will provide yoga mats for all participants to use during the classes.
“We wanted to bring together health and entertainment to make exercise fun for the entire community,” said Glenn Sutch, president of Waterside District. “What could be more invigorating than getting a great exercise workout in a beautiful and vibrant setting like Waterside District. So get moving and join us!”
“We invite the community to drop in for these free fitness classes at Waterside District,” said Anthony Walters, Executive Vice President with the YMCA of South Hampton Roads. “The YMCA Traveling Y Fitness Series is another way that we’re working to build a healthier community.”
