What are your business's core values, goals, and overall mission?
Restoration Behavioral Health Services is a psychiatric practice in Virginia Beach whose goal is to better serve the mentally ill in the community and gain a better understanding of the gaps patients have experienced at other psychiatric practices. The practice prides itself on formulating individualized treatment plans. Our experience enables us to offer effective outpatient, individualized, psychiatric care. We treat a number of mental health disorders and provide a neutral ground for individuals, families, and couples.
Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of all those who pass through our doors by providing the highest quality psychiatric care in a private practice setting. Our vision is to improve mental health care in the community by expanding access to such care through advocacy, collaboration, and networking.
Share some unique facts and business history? What makes your business stand out?
Restoration Behavioral Health Services was founded in late 2018 on a seed of thought that grew into fruition. We have built our practice on the premise of change. Often patients have verbalized feelings of being unheard and stigmatized due to their mental illness. At Restoration Behavioral Health Services, we have created a neutrally safe space where concerns are actively heard; thereby, enabling us to formulate individualized treatment plans.
What products or services do you offer companies or individuals?
We conduct psychiatric evaluations, provide medication management, psychotherapy to include individual, group, family, couples, and substance abuse, individualized treatment planning, and individualized meal planning with a Registered Dietitian.
What are the greatest obstacles and/or challenges that your business has faced? How have you and your business overcome them?
Our greatest challenge has been customer/community awareness of our existence. We want the mentally ill and their families and friends to know that they are not alone and that we are here to provide support and our expertise during their recovery. Currently, we have yet to overcome this challenge, but we have made attempts to raise awareness via a Mental Health Fair and Town Hall Meeting in late 2018.
We are planning another Mental Health Fair and Town Hall Meeting in the Fall of 2019.
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
We are most proud of the positive, therapeutic relationships we have built with our patients and their families thus far. We celebrated our First "Patient Appreciation Day" on April 20, 2019, as a way to celebrate and honor our patients, their health, and support.
What do you see for the future of your business?
We hope to expand the private practice throughout the Hampton Roads area; thereby, enabling us to reach more people suffering from a mental illness in "our" community. Second, not to turn away any patients. Often patients are faced with a practice "not accepting any new patients." We want to eliminate that way of practicing. Mental illness affects millions of Americans every year and there are consequences when there is a lack of treatment, such as the more uncertain the prospect for long-term recovery. The earlier the treatment, the better the clinical outcome. Finally, we want to send a message to everyone in the community that we are dedicated to eliminating barriers to timely and effective treatment when serving the mentally ill population.
Why are you a member of the Hampton Roads Chamber?
The Chamber's vision is built on Excellence, Selfless Service, Integrity, Collaboration, and Diversity. I am a member because the Hampton Roads Chamber is committed to supporting its members throughout their business journey. Also, they are committed to the economic growth of the community, providing leadership, promoting networking opportunities as well as building lasting, successful business relationships with the community.
