Local military personnel to be honored at biannual event

The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce will host a Military Recognition Reception on Friday, April 10, from 3-5p.m. at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott, located at 235 E. Main Street in downtown Norfolk. This reception, held to honor the hardworking men and women of the military, will recognize more than 150 military personnel from local commands. The service members will be joined at the reception by their families, military leadership, elected officials, and business leaders from the region.

The guest speaker is Delegate Chris Stolle, a retired Naval Officer, who was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 2009 to represent the 83rd House District, serving the Virginia Legislature on the Appropriations, Cities & Towns; and Health, Welfare and Institutions Committees. Representing an area with one of the largest populations of veterans in the nation, Dr. Stolle is a champion for Veteran’s issues in the Virginia General Assembly. He has successfully passed legislation to improve veteran’s and their spouse’s education, employment, and health. Dr. Stolle was Chief Patron to a “Veteran’s Courts” bill to provide treatment options for veterans returning from war with traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder.  Additionally, Dr. Stolle has successfully championed legislation to promote the safety of emergency room patients and health care providers. Delegate Stolle was Chief Patron for the first in the nation legislation protecting physician’s rights to care for patients. Dr. Chris Stolle is a native of the Virginia Beach, a graduate of the US Naval Academy, and holds an MBA degree from the College of William and Mary.

The Chamber holds Military Recognition Receptions twice a year because they are such an important part of our region. This is one of many events sponsored by the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce to show local support for men and women of the armed forces stationed in the area. The Chamber has been recognizing the accomplishments of the military at this reception for more than 20 years.  This event is open to the public. The cost is $15 for Chamber members and $25 for prospective members.  For more information, visit
