The Small Business Development Center of Hampton Roads will present the Spring Session of the Hampton Roads Retail Academy. The inaugural session held last year was a resounding success, both in terms of attendance, as well as the lively interactions between the teachers and the students. The vision of the SBDC and the Academy is to strengthen the region’s retail community by developing knowledgeable, innovative-thinking, and dynamic entrepreneurs.
This year, we have brought on-board four new instrutors, who are either currently or previously a part of the business community in Hampton Roads, and have formal education. This situation-specific approach to business and retailing is one of the facets that set the Academy apart from standardized courses at traditional institutions. Our participants will carry forth with the tried-and-true principles taught last year, augmented by an array of new subject matter. The amazing classes: Strategic and Business Planning, Marketing and Merchandising, Customer Service, Legal, Finance, and Security, are only one component of the school. Our peer-to-peer breakfast meetings allow us to share ideas with one another. This is the ideal format for our current and budding entrepreneurs, as they learn from one another. The one-on-one entrepreneurial coaching is the final leg of the journey.
