VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – March 13, 2020 – Providing field trips and extracurricular activities for students outside the classroom are important aspects of An Achievable Dream’s mission because those experiences broaden their horizons and allow them to dream big.
Unfortunately, transporting students to those outings at times stressed the resources of the school and forced it to consider all methods of moving students to where they needed to go. Rentals, taxis, and private bus services were increasingly being used to meet the growing transportation needs of AAD students that resulted in a mounting expense to the school.
Enter Charles Barker Mercedes-Benz in Virginia Beach and a donation of a 2019 Sprinter Van. Dubbed the “Dream-Mobile,” the vehicle – retail valued $56,000 -- will go a long way to solve this issue for the school and students.
“Transporting our students safely is always our primary goal. This amazing gift of a Sprinter Van dedicated to our Dreamers will allow us to continue to open a world of opportunities for our students,” said Lee Vreeland, President and CEO, An Achievable Dream, Inc. "We could not be more grateful for Charles Barker's support of our organization."
Charles Barker, Chairman Charles Barker Automotive and Chairman of the Board AAD, was initially unaware of the extent the school needed such a transportation resource. “Having a dedicated Sprinter Van enables the Academy to plan daily transportation needs as well as them the flexibility to use it a moment’s notice or in case of an emergency,” he said. “Charles Barker Mercedes-Benz is thrilled to play a part in An Achievable Dream and “Inspiring Hope Through Education.”
