Farm Fresh President Micky Nye kicked off the event stressing their four pillars of community involvement: military, hunger relief (food banks), CHKD, and Education. Five Suffolk schools received certificates for 1234 education points that can be converted into goods for their programs. Ms. Nye stated their belief that children are the future and all shoppers can easily convert their purchases into points by simply swiping a free fob they can pick up at the Customer Service Desk.
Suffolk Economic Development Director Kevin Hughes said “to have regional operators like Farm Fresh continue to reinvest along the Main Street corridor is a testament to the vitality of Suffolk”. This Farm Fresh store was built in 1984 as one of the cornerstones of the local economy.
Suffolk Mayor Linda Johnson recognized the importance of the Healthy You initiative at Farm Fresh. Referring to her own recent wellness makeover she noted the importance of using the free nutrition guides, counselors and services at Farm Fresh.
