On June 8, Travel + Leisure magazine named Virginia Beach in its list of “America’s Best Beach Boardwalks.” The list, which includes 11 beach board walks, was created based on what locations best represented “family-friendly ocean-side attractions from Maine to California.”
The beach’s three-mile long boardwalk did not earn the recognition alone. The magazine also mentioned many local favorites such as the 15th Street Amusement Park, the Neptune statue at 31st Street, the Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum and the Old Coast Guard Station. Travel + Leisure Magazine also gave a special nod to the blue crabs at the oceanfront restaurant, Catch 31.
This national recognition “is a testament to the reputation of Virginia Beach as a quality tourist destination,” said Jack Hornbeck, CCE, President and CEO of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce. “It also demonstrates the willingness of Virginia Beach to invest in and maintain that quality.”
