Virginia Beach, Va. – Cayce/Reilly School of Massage is proud to announce that Reflexology Instructor, Juliebeth Mezzy, has been awarded the prestigious honor of Educator of the Year by the Alliance for Massage Therapy Education. The applicant pool is extremely competitive, and winners are chosen based on experience, teacher training taken, and how well they meet the core competency standards. Additionally, applicants must rate themselves on 4 out of the 10 Standards from the NTESP Core Competencies for Massage Therapy Teachers. Juliebeth will appear at the 2015 Educational Congress in Minneapolis to share information on the specific ways she demonstrates her commitment to excellence in education.
Juliebeth, a Board Certified Massage Therapist and Certified Reflexologist, has been in the field of professional bodywork for over 22 years. Her practice began as a hobby and developed into the highlight of her career. In 1996, Juliebeth became a Certified Reflexologist through the International Institute of Reflexology—she is one of only 24 Accredited Reflexology Educators in the country, and has been with the Cayce/Reilly School of Massage since 2000. Her major focus is on reflexology, palpation lab, and chair massage, but also has additional training in Hand Reflexology, Ear Reflexology, Meridian Therapies and Reiki.
Much adored by her students, Juliebeth’s classes have often been described as interactive and fun. “This award is the culmination of every class I have written, instructed, revised, laughed at and cried over,” said Juliebeth. “It is dedicated to students. Without them, my soul’s purpose may have gone unnoticed.”
The Cayce/Reilly School of Massage prides itself on the uniqueness of its massage curriculum that draws upon the wealth of insights on holism, healing, and personal transformation contained in the Edgar Cayce material and the massage style born out of these concepts by physiotherapist Harold J. Reilly. Originally formed in 1967 as part of Edgar Cayce’s Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) by then Executive Director Hugh Lynn Cayce and Dr. Reilly, the school was officially recognized as a separate entity by the Virginia Board of Education in 1987. This accredited school remains an affiliate of the A.R.E. and is located on A.R.E’s Virginia Beach headquarters campus at 215 67th St., Virginia Beach, VA 23451.
