Branding Yourself and Your Business

 “Building your brand can help turn contacts into clients because it develops and builds a comfort factor between you and them.”  This is an imperative part of establishing a relationship with a client because “they get to know you, they begin to trust you and then they want to do business with you.”  Courtney LaLonde told the attendees of the Chamber Education Series “Branding Yourself and Your Business”.

LaLonde urged the attendees to understand a few things about themselves and their brands.  “The goals that you want to achieve and the target audience that you want to reach. In identifying your target audience, you can’t be everything to everyone, so you need to identify your target and communicate directly with them.” Set goals and stick to them, as it allows you to develop and grow as an individual.

Think bigger, and invest in yourself and in your brand. LaLonde walked the attendees through a series of platforms to develop and grow their brand and how to take advantage of the analytics presented on these platforms to understand your audience and the strongest means of communication to your audience. Some of the highlighted platforms, apps and programs include:  Survey Monkey to gather data; Linked In and Facebook to post videos; BombBomb and Magisto to edit and create short videos.

 LaLonde stresses using video to establish your brand.  “Your brand is your identity that shows who you are, and the feeling behind who you are”.  At the core of building your brand is communication.  You must call, talk and email to build your brand.  LaLonde emphasizes face-to-face contact by doing pop-bys with clients and potential customers.
