Due to our continued success as one of Hampton Roads’ leading private security firms, Alpha Group Security is proud to announce the latest addition to our executive team, Vice President of Operations, Rick Michaud.
Rick began his career in security and law enforcement in 1985 when he joined the U.S. Coast Guard, serving in port security and drug-interdiction roles in the infancy of the country’s “war on drugs”. One of his tours was in a specialized Coast Guard unit (the Surface Effect Ship Division that was based in Key West, Florida) where he served on the Coast Guard Cutter Petrel (WSES 4) one of the highest decorated patrol cutters in the Coast Guard. The SES Division was tasked with maritime law enforcement targeting drugs bound for the U.S. from the Caribbean, Mexico and South America. The unit, and Michaud, received numerous commendations for the many drug seizures and their leading role in a Special Drug Interdiction mission named Operation Checkmate 7. After his military service, Rick worked his way through the ranks in progressively more responsible roles in private security and investigations in New England and Florida. He has worked in senior leadership roles from Director of Operations to Senior Vice President for several of the largest security firms in the U.S. and has been responsible for operations providing more than 22,000 service-hours per week with 650+ employees.
Having had the experience of “standing a post” and serving in a wide variety of security roles over the years, Rick is passionate about the people he is responsible for. He is also conscious of the need to add value to his client’s operations and brings that balanced perspective to his new role at Alpha Group Security. Rick is a firm believer in competency through training and has spent countless hours developing and mentoring future security and business leaders.
Rick graduated Suma Cum Laude from Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management & Organization, where he was awarded departmental honors from the School of Business and received the Barnard Scholar Award, the highest academic achievement in the Connecticut State University system.
In his new role as Vice President of Operations, Rick will be responsible for the day to day leadership for all field operations. He will oversee training and development, quality control, client relations and support our human resources and marketing teams.
