This year’s Girl Scout Cookie Program in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina runs through March 26. Girl Scouts are currently taking cookie orders, and booth sales will start February 19.
New this year, local Girl Scouts are offering the S’mores cookie, a crunchy graham sandwich cookie with a creamy chocolate and marshmallowy filling. Seven additional cookie varieties will also be available: Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Do-si-dos, Savannah Smiles and Toffee-tastics (gluten free).
Locally, Girl Scout Cookies are $4 per box. Toffee-tastics, a gluten-free product, and Girl Scout S’mores, made with specialty ingredients, are $5 per box. All proceeds stay in southeastern Virginian and northeastern North Carolina to benefit local Girl Scouts.
In 2017, Girl Scouts are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first known instance of Girl Scouts selling cookies.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the nation’s leading financial literacy and entrepreneurial program for girls. Buying Girl Scout Cookies is about more than just handing over money for a box of cookies. Selling cookies teaches goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics—aspects essential to leadership, success and life.
