At the October 30 Board of Directors meeting, the following individuals were elected as the Chamber’s 2014 officers. These leaders took office at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting of the Membership on December 11.  The Chamber thanks its 2014 officers for their commitment to serve.

Chair Michael M. Dudley is a Senior Vice President of Sentara Healthcare and President of Sentara Health Plans, a subsidiary of Sentara Healthcare, serving 450,000 members in Virginia and North Carolina. Prior to joining Sentara in 1996, Dudley served for three years as President of Kaiser Permanente Insurance Company leading a team charged with starting up a new Kaiser division and offering new products nationwide. He served as President and Regional Manager of Kaiser Permanente's Northeast Region for 7 years and as Medical Center Administrator in Northern California for 8 years.  He received a Bachelor of Arts in English at Brigham Young University and a Master of Science in Health Administration at the University of Colorado where he was the recipient of the Foster G. McGaw Scholarship and Class Valedictorian. He also completed the Executive Management Program at Stanford University. Dudley currently serves as a Director on the Boards of America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), the Virginia Association of Health Plans, the Health Plan Alliance, the Medical Society of Virginia Foundation, and the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce.  He was appointed by Governor Bob McDonnell to the Virginia Health Reform Commission and Governor Tim Kaine to the Virginia Council for Healthy Communities. He has served previously on the Boards of Cariten Health Plans and the Connecticut HMO Association.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He has served the Hampton Roads Chamber as Vice Chair of the Marketing & Communications Committee and Co-Chair of the Sustainable Resources Campaign.  In 2012, Michael served as the Chamber’s Treasurer and in 2013 served as Chair-Elect.

Chair-Elect Susan Blackman is a partner at Willcox & Savage, P.C., practicing employment law and business immigration law.  She helps employers solve workplace issues including medical accommodation, discrimination and matters involving employees’ rights.  She represents employers in court proceedings and before the EEOC, Dept. of Labor, and U.S. immigration agencies.  She obtains visas and green cards for foreign employees and advises clients about U.S. employment and immigration laws.Blackman is in The Best Lawyers in America for both immigration law and employment law.  Richmond Magazine named her as one of the “Top 25 Women Attorneys in Virginia,” and she was the only Hampton Roads lawyer recognized by Benchmark Litigation as among the top 250 women litigators in the country.  Blackman is a past Chair of the Chamber’s Virginia Beach Division, has served on the Chamber’s Regional Board of Directors since 2007 and in 2013 served as Treasurer.

Treasurer Joseph R. Witt, CPA, serves as the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officerfor Old Point National Bank.  Witt previously held the position of Treasurer at Ferguson Enterprises, Inc. He earned a B.S. in Commerce from the McIntire School at the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from the University of Richmond.  He is also a Certified Public Accountant.  Witt and his wife of 30 years, Kathy, have three children; Karsten, 25, a graduate of James Madison University; Kelsey, 22, a graduate of  the University of Mary Washington; and Jordan, 19, a second year student at the University of Virginia.  In 2013, Witt served as the Chamber's Vice Chair of Investments.  He served as a member of both the Chamber's Executive Committee and Board of Directors in 2013.
