Due to ongoing budget and staffing issues, the IRS has had to adopt a new service approach to taxpayers needing customer service. Longer wait times at Taxpayer Assistance Centers and toll free help lines has prompted the IRS to develop several online tools that will enable the taxpayer to find the answer they need using the IRS.gov website. We have "Where's My Refund", "Get Transcript" and "Interactive Tax Assistant" to name a few of the updated tools that is available to taxpayers today. The IRS will still answer basic questions at the assistor sites, but you may find the answer to your questions faster with the new tools available.
