CHESAPEAKE, VA — The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce will hold its Chesapeake State of the Schools Breakfast on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 8:00-9:00am (7:30am registration) at the Chesapeake Conference Center. This event will provide the business community with a closer look at the impact K-12 public education has on the Hampton Roads community. The presentation will provide attendees with insight into Chesapeake schools’ accomplishments, successes, and challenges.
Veteran educator Superintendent Dr. W. Randolph Nichols is the guest speaker. Dr. Nichols is in his 15th year as superintendent of Chesapeake Public Schools. He has been employed with Chesapeake Public Schools his entire professional career serving as a teacher, administrator, and superintendent. In recognition of his educational leadership in the city of Chesapeake and across the state, he was honored as the 2003 Virginia State Superintendent of the Year, the 2008 First Citizen of Chesapeake, and was one of the four finalists for the National Superintendent of the Year.
