Dean McClain, HRCC Governmental Affairs team member, participated in a strategy meeting with a broad coalition of Virginia Restaurant , Lodging, and Travel professionals in Richmond on December 16th to plan efforts to grow the region's and Virginia's tourism sectors of our economy in the 2016 General Assembly. Tourism is a vital part of the Hampton Roads and the Commonwealth's economy. In 2014, Virginia's tourism generated a record breaking $22.4 billion in revenue supporting 216,300 jobs. At the state and local level, tourism generated $1.5 billion in taxes that assists in funding vital services such as K-12 Education, infrastructure improvements, and public safety.
