The trend of turning office space into shared space for multiple companies and the self-employed continues to spread across Hampton Roads.
Divaris Real Estate announced Wednesday that it had leased 28,547 square feet to Gather, a coworking business based in Richmond that has opened offices in Norfolk and Newport News this year.
The new deal will bring Gather’s footprint to seven locations in Virginia: four in Richmond and three in Hampton Roads. The company expects the Town Center location, the entire third floor at 249 Central Park Ave. above Brooks Brothers, Keagan’s Irish Pub, Gordon Biersch Brewery and The Cheesecake Factory, to fit about 515 paying members with 156 private offices. It’s expected to open by June.
The company’s coworking spots in Norfolk and Newport News have space for about 150 and 133 private offices, respectively.
