At work: I am proud to serve the business community as executive vice president, operations for the Hampton Roads Chamber. As a leader in the chamber, I am actively involved in the promotion of regionalism, economic development and improved quality of life in Hampton Roads.
Home and family: A native of Hampton Roads, I live in the Chic’s Beach area of Virginia Beach with my husband Alan. We are proud parents of our daughter, Emily, who lives in Richmond.
Volunteer activities: I serve on the Board for Champions for Children, Prevent Child Abuse Hampton Roads. Champions for Children focuses on three core strategies for prevention – awareness, education and advocacy. I am past president of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce Executives and currently serve on the board of directors, taking an active role in program development for the association. I am also a member of the Membership Development Division Board for the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.
Advice for women in business: As women in the workplace we have to support each other every day and help each other grow. Really lean-in!
Professional goal in five years: I am proud to be a part of the Hampton Roads Chamber and plan to continue to be part of an organization that works hard to insure Hampton Roads is a great place to live, work and play.
The one thing I’d change about Hampton Roads: The region needs to unite with one voice to move forward and grow to its potential. We need to put parochialism aside and do what is best for the region.
Region’s biggest asset: Our diversity. Hampton Roads is truly a melting pot. Diversity ignites innovation!
Downtime: I enjoy the beach, reading and traveling. I am also a NASCAR fan.
What really gets under my skin: The word “can’t” really gets under my skin. I believe we can do anything we set our minds to.
