"Opportunity is the oxygen of democracy, " said candidate for Virginia Lieutenant Governor, Justin Fairfax. Fairfax visited the Hampton Roads Chamber Thursday, August 24 to meet with local business leaders and discuss his campaign platforms. The Chamber is inviting all the candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor to speak to our members and local business leaders about the issues that matter to the business community. During his remarks, Fairfax addressed issues including diversifying the economy, investing in infrastructure, and addressing sea level rise. The candidate took questions from the audience related to the minimum wage, workforce development, and the proposed funding cuts to the Chesapeake Bay clean up. "Hampton Roads has been a bright light in economic development," said Fairfax, "Hampton Roads has been leading the way. The growth rate here has outpaced every where else in the Commonwealth. There is such a diversified economy in Hampton Roads and that's what it takes to move the ball forward."
