Michael Kerner, the CEO of Bon Secours Hampton Roads, will be leaving the health system in early September, after nine years at the helm.
Kerner has been CEO of Bon Secours Hampton Roads since 2008, and also CEO of Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth since early 2017.
In a news release issued Monday, Toni Ardabell, CEO of Bon Secours Virginia, said a transition plan is in place that includes recruitment for two positions – a market chief operating officer for Bon Secours Virginia, and a CEO for Maryview – to be filled by January 2018.
Bon Secours Hampton Roads includes Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk, Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, and Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View, a free-standing emergency department in Suffolk.
Mark Nantz, executive vice president of Strategic Initiatives for Bon Secours Health System, and market leader for Bon Secours in South Carolina and New York, will serve as interim CEO until replacements are found.
