Faster Internet Speeds Coming for Cox Customers inHampton Roads
Chesapeake, VA – Cox Communications today announced that it will increase the speeds on two packages of Internet service for all customers this month. Cox High Speed Internet Essential will increase from 5 megabits per second to 15 megabits per second. Cox High Speed Internet Starter will be five times faster increasing from 1 megabit per second to 5 megabits per second. The new speeds automatically go into effect today.
With speeds as fast as 150Mbps, Cox is continuing to provide its customers the fastest speeds in Hampton Roads with plans to increase speeds on the Ultimate package later this year.
“The recent speed increases are the result of our investment in our network and commitment to offer access and choice to meet the needs of all our customers. We know this is especially important in today’s world where more and more devices are connected in the home,” stated J.D. Myers II, senior vice president and region manager, Cox Communications Virginia, “We will continue to invest in our network to bring our customers the best online experience possible, enhancing the value of the bundle of video, Internet, phone and home security services.”
In fact, the increased speeds come on the heels of a double speed increase on the two most popular packages late last year. The company also announced plans to have gigabit speeds to all markets by the end of 2016.
Cox offers a wide array of Internet service packages designed to suit anyone’s needs, from the casual email user to power gamers and households with multiple family members using the Internet simultaneously. Cox also offers the most compelling combinations of speeds and features, with all customers receiving free cloud storage; 24/7 live, online sports coverage from ESPN; and McAfee Family Protection and Cox Security Suite Plus, a comprehensive package of Internet security tools to help ensure online safety with anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-phishing, parental controls and more. Cox customers with the Preferred or higher package also have access to more than 300,000 WiFi hotspots when they travel so they can stay connected on-the-go.
The higher speeds greatly increase as customers move up the packages Cox offers. Choosing the best package as well as the right modem equipment will provide the fastest Internet and strongest wireless signals to all the devices they use.
Customers interested in experiencing the new Internet speeds available should visit www.cox.com/highspeedinternet or a local Cox Solutions Store to test speeds for themselves.
