LEAD Hampton Roads is currently seeking nominations for its 2011 Visionary Awards. These awards will recognize four individuals from Hampton Roads who have demonstrated exceptional regional leadership. The awards have been established to both thank and hold up as examples to those leaders who have demonstrated tangible benefits to our region and embody strength, innovation, perseverance and progress.
Criteria for the awards include: a resident of one of the 17 communities comprising greater Hampton Roads; active and sustained involvement in business, community, civic, professional and/or political endeavors; and shall display excellence, boldness and courage in promoting regional progress. One nominee will be chosen from each of the following industries: Business, Education, Non-Profit and Military. The deadline for these nominations is April 15. The awards will be presented at LEAD Hampton Roads’ 22nd Anniversary Regional Leadership Celebration on Thursday, June 30.
LEAD Hampton Roads, a program of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, is the area’s oldest and largest leadership network and is recognized as one of the country’s foremost leadership organizations. Through education, partnerships and networking, LEAD Hampton Roads identifies, connects and supports committed regional leaders.
On June 30, the First Citizen of Hampton Roads Award will also be presented. This award, established in 2009, recognizes an individual from Hampton Roads who has demonstrated exceptional regional leadership and whose leadership is bold in the face of both adversity and complacency. The award recognizes a courageous and visionary individual whose tireless efforts have helped lead the 17 communities of Hampton Roads into greater prosperity and partnership. The nomination deadline for the First Citizen of Hampton Roads Award is April 8.
